Programs | Parental Duties and Responsibilities
As a cooperative, Glenbrook's administrative
duties and daily operation are completely dependent on the families
who comprise its membership. The school's organization
and policies reflect years of practical experience and
the qualified staff that has helped provide the school
with a well-developed philosophy.
The special nature of Glenbrook Cooperative Nursery
School is the close working relationship between parents
and teachers. This cooperative approach offers a unique
support system as it builds a sense of community and
togetherness for parents and children.
We ask our parents to participate in
many ways:
- by regularly taking part in your child's classroom;
- by holding a job at the school;
- by attending membership and classroom meetings;
- by engaging the school community at social events, fundraisers, etc.
Glenbrook holds
regular meetings for the membership during the school
year. The membership meetings are necessary to handle
the business of the school. Attendance at these meetings
is required.
Members of the school are required to hold a job. Our handbook contains a detailed
explanation of each position. Glenbrook's Board of Directors and staff meet
one hour before each membership meeting. The Board is comprised of members who hold jobs in the Executive Committee.
